To set up a VPN on a Windows or macOS computer, there are two paths: add a VLESS subscription to the Happ or FlClashX app — then all your locations sit in one list — or import a WireGuard or AmneziaWG file for one specific location. Either way you install an app, get the subscription or the file in your account and turn the connection on, which takes a few minutes.
Below you'll find how to choose, how to set up each option and what to do if something doesn't work. Detailed step-by-step guides for each app are in the documentation, and every app for a computer is listed on the VPN for PC page.
How to choose a way to set up a VPN on your computer
- A VLESS subscription in Happ — one link, every location available to you, and switching countries right in the app. Happ is available for Windows, macOS, and Linux.
- A VLESS subscription in FlClashX — the same link in a Clash-family client. A handy option on desktop systems and for anyone used to Clash clients or wanting fine-grained routing rules.
- A WireGuard config — one .conf file per location in the official WireGuard app.
- An AmneziaWG config — the same WireGuard with obfuscation: an extra layer of traffic processing. It needs the separate AmneziaWG app.
If you already use Hiddify, a RuSolv subscription works there too. Every option is included in one plan.
Happ or FlClashX
Both clients take the same subscription link: RuSolv recognises the app and serves it the right format. Happ is simpler: on a phone the subscription is added in one tap from your account. FlClashX is an open-source client on the mihomo core; people pick it when they are used to Clash clients. There is no FlClashX for iPhone or iPad, so if you want one app on your computer and your iPhone, choose Happ.
A VLESS subscription in Happ
Step 1. Install Happ
- Windows — from happ.info.
- macOS — from the App Store or happ.info.
Step 2. Get the subscription link
- Sign in to your rusolv.com account and open Connections.
- Click New Connection, then Select on the Subscription card, then Activate VLESS — the VLESS+Reality subscription is created instantly. The subscription is available on the free plan too, but for that you need to link Telegram first.
- Copy the Encrypted link. You can also get it from the RuSolv Telegram bot.
The subscription link is your access to the VPN: don't publish it or forward it to anyone. If you change the link in your account, the old one stops working.
Step 3. Add the subscription to Happ
- Open Happ and click +.
- Choose Import via URL and paste the link from RuSolv.
- Happ loads all your locations — pick one and press the connect button.
The subscription updates itself: when the list of locations changes, Happ pulls it in without a re-import. More in the Happ guide.
A VLESS subscription in FlClashX
FlClashX runs on Windows, macOS (Apple Silicon and Intel), and Linux. Download the build for your system from the project's GitHub releases page, and get the subscription link the same way as for Happ. FlClashX has no one-tap import — you paste the link yourself on the Profiles tab: + → add a profile from a URL. Then select the downloaded profile, pick a location on the proxies tab and turn the VPN on. The profile updates itself.
A WireGuard or AmneziaWG config
Step 1. Install the app
- WireGuard: Windows — the installer from wireguard.com/install, macOS — the App Store.
- AmneziaWG: Windows — the AmneziaWG for Windows build on GitHub, macOS — the App Store.
The standard WireGuard app does not open AmneziaWG configs — they need the AmneziaWG app.
Step 2. Create a connection and download the file
- In your account, open Connections and click New Connection.
- On the A config per location card, click Select.
- Pick a location, then the protocol — WireGuard or AmneziaWG. The protocol step appears only when the location offers both; locations with AmneziaWG carry an AWG badge.
- Choose the method — A device from your plan or Activation code — click Next, then Create Connection.
- On the connection card, click Download — this is the .conf file for your computer.
Step 3. Import the file
- Windows: open the app, click Import tunnel(s) from file, select the downloaded .conf and click Activate.
- macOS: open the app, click Import tunnel(s) from file or drag the .conf into the window, allow the VPN configuration to be added and click Activate.
Import works the same way in AmneziaWG. More in the WireGuard and AmneziaWG guides.
One WireGuard or AmneziaWG config is one location. To change country, click Switch Location on the connection card and import the new file; switching countries right in the app is easier with a VLESS subscription.
How to check the VPN on your computer works
Open whatismyip.com: the address should match the location you chose. In the WireGuard app you will also see counters for sent and received traffic.
Common problems
The VPN won't connect
Make sure the internet works without the VPN. Then fully close the app and open it again. For a VLESS subscription, update it in the app — and check that your plan hasn't expired in your account.
The VPN is on, but websites won't open
Try opening a site by IP address, for example 1.1.1.1: if it opens, the problem is DNS. In a WireGuard or AmneziaWG config, check the AllowedIPs line — for a full tunnel it is 0.0.0.0/0, ::/0. Sometimes a simple restart of the computer helps.
Slow speed
Pick a location closer to you or try another one — some servers can be busy. Check your speed without the VPN: if it is slow without it too, the issue is your connection.
The list of locations is out of date
Update the subscription in Happ, or the profile on the Profiles tab in FlClashX. If you changed the link in your account, import the new one in Happ, and in FlClashX delete the old profile and add a new one — the old link stops working.
Frequently asked questions
How many plan slots does a computer use?
Each VLESS subscription in an app and each WireGuard or AmneziaWG config is one slot. If your computer runs both Happ and WireGuard, that is two slots; Happ alone is one.
Can I use one subscription on my computer and my phone?
Yes, the same link works in Happ and FlClashX on any device where they are installed. Each device you add it to takes one slot on your plan; on the free plan the VLESS subscription is available on one device only.
Are there Linux versions?
Yes: Happ and FlClashX have Linux builds, WireGuard installs per your distribution's instructions at wireguard.com/install, and for AmneziaWG follow the Amnezia documentation.
Can I set up a VPN on a computer for free?
Yes. The free plan includes one WireGuard or AmneziaWG config and one VLESS device, each with 10 GB of traffic a month and the free locations; it turns on once you link Telegram. Pro unlocks every location, and traffic is unlimited.
Bottom line
For a computer, a VLESS subscription in Happ is the most convenient: one link, all your locations and switching inside the app. FlClashX suits people used to Clash clients, and a WireGuard or AmneziaWG config suits anyone who needs one location. Speed is not limited on any plan.
